Making Money

I’ve been toying with an idea lately for webmasters.

An automatic content update for websites. Not an RSS feed, but a content ’supermarket’.

Basically they’d come to a website, select whatever number of videos, pictures, files, articles etc, maybe pay per unit, or a monthly fee and then the whole lot would be zipped up and ready for them to download.

Alternatively, if they were using a well known script, they could enter their database details, IP etc and the products would be automatically entered into their database for them.

I think its a great idea. Any takers?!!

I already own a few domain names.

I’ve never made money from them, preferring to sit on them. I’m not sure why I don’t sell a few and then buy some more with the profit. Really I suppose, sitting on domain names is only so good for a certain time. After that the value of the domain name is more in your head and your opinion then what it may be worth on the open market. We (yes, you too!) have a habit of overestimating what our own domains are worth, and underestimating what other domains are worth.

There is only one value that a domain is worth - what you can get for it from the market.

I’m now going to take by own advice and sell a few that I will never get round to developing and that I can’t see substantially increasing in value over the next year.

This is going to be my personal money making blog!

I don’t have a particular method for making money. I’m self employed, sometimes I make money online, sometimes by working for others, sometimes doing Design or trading so this will be a wide ranging blog! I really should be more focused in my efforts, but I like the variety and the not-knowing where my next paycheck will come from!

I hope to keep this uptodate and that others may benefit from it, and of course all comments would be welcome along with ideas!!
